James' October AudioBooks- Part II

10/22/06 - "The Question of God: CS Lewis & Sigmund Freud Debate God, Love, Sex, and the Meaning of Life" (Armand Nicholi, Jr.)
This is a fascinating book written by a Harvard Professor who has taught a course for the last 10 years, comparing the writings, theories, and lives of the quintessential atheist, Sigmund Freud with those of the atheist-turn-believer, C.S. Lewis. As the author points out, it is uncanny just how easily the two prolific authors' work can by placed side-by-side and compared/contrasted. It is almost as if the two great men stood across from each other and debated their particularly strong views for us to consider and enjoy.
Overall ... "A must read for anyone even vaguely interested in psychology, literature, or just good ole' intelligent debate!"

10/26/06 - "Running with Scissors: A Memoir (Augusten Burroughs)
The motivation for the very funny recently released movie, this is a well-told book about the very messed-up childhood endured by this young man. Heather & I both enjoyed this book, as well as the movie!
Overall ... "Definitely worth the read -- before you see the movie"
