James' November AudioBooks- Part II

11/21/06 - Unraveled: The True Story of a Woman Who Dared to Become a Different Kind of Mother (Maria Housden)

This book was a rare look into the emotions and reasoning of a mother who, defying social & familial norms, choose to walk away from her own children. It does have a heart-wrenching recap of the loss of her youngest daughter; however, this author already published a best-selling book exclusive to this horrible loss ("Hannah's Gift"). What remained, quite frankly was the self-told story of a woman's adultery and (in my opinion) selfish abandonment of her children in order to pursue the "artist" inside her.
Overall ... "interesting perspective, but difficult to look beyond her actions & choices--tough call"

11/25/2006 - "The Coming China Wars: Where They Will Be Fought and How They Can Be Won" (Peter Navarro)

This book was a shocking eye-opener focused on this nuclear superpower, gone awry. Personally, I was surprised that the author didn't even address China's nuclear capabilities until the very last chapter, and then as an "elephant in the living room." I'm no political scientist; however, I think every adult in America should read this book! It was mind-numbing to learn just how bad this "pirate nation" really is in every way you can imagine, and several I couldn't. The list of the "Coming China Wars" addressed China's: "weapons of mass-production" (dirt cheap products we ALL buy; pollution levels of global impact; unfair global economic policies linking their money directly to the U.S. dollar; an "oil at ANY cost" policy leading to nuclear proliferation in Iran; a drug & prostitution trade that will likely spawn the world's next largest HIV/AIDS epidemic (surpassing that of Africa!); and so on; and so on. WOW -- I had NO idea!
Overall ... "Worth the read for every voting American, even if you don't consider yourself political"
