Just a quick "review" of last month's audiobooks ...
"Billy" -- (Pamela Stephenson) 9/9/06
Written & narrated by his wife, a psychologist, this is a biography of the popular comedian. It starts off a bit slow, but the story is worth hearing. Unfortunately, his wife is not gifted with Billy's sense on humor, so even when she attempts to "be funny," she sorta misses the mark. Overall -- I'd give it an "OK"
"Leadership" -- (Rudolph Giuliani) 9/17/06
I found this audiobook very meaningful and useful, both personally and professionally. I plan to use a clip or two from the former NYC mayor's book in one or more of my lesson plans for the "Leadership & Management" course I teach at Manhattan College in the Bronx (NYC). I think the students will find his lessons extremely relevant to their own lives as NYC residents, and as future U.S. Air Force officers. Overall -- "Highly recommended"
"Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" -- (Robert M. Pirsig) 9/18/06
The classic was definitely worth hearing, but a bit "deep" in places for casual listening. Understandable though, since it is neither about Zen Buddhism nor REALLY about motorcycle repair :) For anyone who hasn't already read it (I assumed I was the only person who hadn't) it is basically a book on philosophy, for lack of a better "category" to place it in. Overall -- "Worth the listen, if you have the time"
I'll post October's audiobooks soon ... Stay tuned :)
